Fifth-ranked Northwood beat No. 6 Woodbridge, 10-8, on Thursday to capture the school's third consecutive Sea View League boys tennis title.

Six days ago the Timberwolves beat the Warriors by the same score.

Woodbridge (13-4, 9-1) was playing for a share of the league championship, but Northwood's victory finished an undefeated league run.

“This was by far the toughest one,” said Timberwolves coach Eric Keith of the three. “We have a big group of seniors that have been here all four years and been a part of this run. Today was the culminating moment.”

Three of those seniors provided sweeps for Northwood (15-4, 10-0). Junya Yoshida swept at No. 1 singles, his second sweep this season against the Warriors. The Timberwolves' No. 1 doubles team of Eugene Kang and Parker Jung also won all three sets.

“It gets tougher and tougher,” Yoshida said.

“There was more pressure involved this year, but everyone worked hard.”

Last Friday, Northwood won the opening round, 4-2. The teams split the next two rounds 3-3. On Thursday, Northwood again took the first round 4-2. This time the Timberwolves won the second round, 4-2, to take command going into Round 3.

Yoshida's victory in the final round gave Northwood set No. 10. The match featured two singles sets that lasted more than an hour each.

Kang and Jung won their sets, 6-1, 6-0, 6-3.

“I never expected to win throughout all my years here,” Kang said. “It feels good. Our only concern was to beat Woodbridge.”

In baseball:

Orange 4, Westminster 3: The Panthers entered the bottom of the seventh with the score tied at 3, but a pair of intentional walks and a hit batter brought Jake Cohen in for the winning run and clinched the Golden West League title for the second year in a row.

Cohen pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up three earned runs while notching seven strikeouts.

The victory went to Steven Garber, who pitched the rest of the seventh and gave up only one hit.

Newport Harbor 3, Fountain Valley 0: Hamilton Day, J.B. Green and Richard De St. Jean each had 11 kills to lead the Sailors past the Barons, 25-20, 25-11, 31-29.

In the Century League:

El Modena 3, Brea Olinda: Connor Olbright had 16 kills to lift the Vanguards (18-6, 10-0) past the Wildcats (10-8, 4-6), 25-14, 25-22, 25-14.
