He was named most valuable player of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Orange Holiday Classic, which Mater Dei by defeating Tustin, 77-55, in the championship game. Johnson, a 6-foot-7 junior, had game highs of 27 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots against Tustin. He also was MVP of the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas the previous week.
