Robbe Simon
Sage Hill
During a Corona del Mar All-American Tournament full of noteworthy and impressive performances, Simon’s eight-match body of work stands alone for a few reasons.
Of the 12 matches Sage Hill — the smallest school in the 16-team field — won on Friday, Simon (an All-Tournament selection) had a hand in seven of them, including the Lightning’s only three wins in the first two rounds.
In addition to his 3-0 mark against nonleague foe Los Alamitos on Wednesday, Sage Hill’s co-captain tallied a 4-0 singles record against No. 1s from Corona del Mar (standout Alec Adamson), Santa Barbara, Jesuit of Carmichael and Providence Day of North Carolina.
Additionally, the senior led the Lightning’s top doubles team to a 3-1 mark against the top doubles team from the same four schools (falling only to Santa Barbara).
