After compiling four El Toro records and a CIF championship, Chargers pitcher Chad Thompson capped a remarkable junior season with one more achievement: All-CIF-Southern Section Division II Player of the Year for baseball.
The 6-foot-8 right-hander went 12-3 with a 1.28 ERA, with 121 strikeouts in 93 innings. He set or tied the school record for complete games (nine), shutouts (five), victories and strikeouts. He punctuated his season by earning the victory in the Chargers' first four playoff games.
