CIF-SS boys basketball semifinals previews: Tuesday's games
TUESDAY'S CIF-SS BOYS BASKETBALL SEMIFINALS
DIVISION 1AA
INGLEWOOD (18-9) VS. MATER DEI (29-1)
Site, time: Mater Dei High, 7 p.m.
Outlook: Inglewood, which finished second in the Ocean League, defeated Mission Viejo, 64-61, in the quarterfinals. Mater Dei won last year's 1AA championship, the school's 21st section title in boys basketball. The Monarchs have won their three playoff games by an average margin of 26 points.
DIVISION 1A
CRESCENTA VALLEY (23-7) VS. EL TORO (26-5)
Site, time: El Toro High, 7 p.m.
Outlook: Crescenta Valley was seeded fourth in this division. The Falcons' three playoff victories include a 63-51 triumph over Edison. Top-seeded El Toro had a close first-round game, a 65-62 triumph over Cabrillo of Long Beach, but has won by comfortable margins since.
DANA HILLS (23-7) VS. SANTA MONICA (23-6)
Site, time: Santa Monica High, 7 p.m.
Outlook: Dana Hills will participate in a boys basketball semifinal for the first time afterestablishing a school single-season record for boys basketball victories. The Dolphins, who finished second in the Sea View League, defeated third-seeded West Ranch of Valencia, 61-59, in the quarterfinals. Second-seeded Santa Monica defeated Aliso Niguel, 75-63, in the quarterfinals.
DIVISION 2AA
VILLA PARK (23-6) VS. THOUSAND OAKS (24-6)
Site, time: Thousand Oaks High, 7 p.m.
Outlook: Century League champion and third-seeded Villa Park beat Mark Keppel of Alhambra by five points in the second round and Murrieta Valley of Murrieta by five in the quarterfinals. Lamont Tyler scored 25 points with 12 rebounds for Villa Park against Murrieta Valley. Second-seeded Thousand Oaks has won its three playoff games by an average margin of 16 points.
DIVISION 2A
TESORO (21-9) VS. WESTLAKE OF WESTLAKE VILLAGE (26-4)
Site, time: Westlake High, 7 p.m.
Outlook: Tesoro finished fourth in the five-team South Coast League. John Jenkins scored 20 points in the Titans' 64-50 victory over Dos Pueblos of Goleta in the quarterfinals. Top-seeded Westlake beat Beaumont by 49 points in the quarterfinals.
