Los Alamitos top seed in CIF State playoffs
Seven county teams to go for state title
The newly-crowned CIF-SS Division 1AA champions Los Alamitos girls volleyball team is the top seed in the Southern California Division I bracket of the CIF State Championships.
The Griffins (35-3) will host Centennial of Bakersfield in a first round match Tuesday night at 7 p.m. As the top seed, the Griffins will be home for each of the first the first three rounds before the CIF State finals, Dec. 3 at Concordia University.
The Griffins won their first state title in 2006.
Second matches are Saturday, followed by with the regional finals taking place Tuesday, Nov. 29.
Corona del Mar is the fifth seed and will begin on the road against Torrey Pines, the San Diego Section champion.
Newport Harbor is the sixth seed and is also on the road, opening at Clovis West, the Central Section champion.
After the first round, the home team is decided by seeding in the bracket.
Whittier Christian is the eighth seed in Division II and will be on the road against top-seeded La
Costa Canyon of Carlsbad. La Costa Canyon is the San Diego Section champion.
In Division IV, Connelly is the eighth seed and will visit La Jolla Country Day.
Sage Hill, the CIF-SS Division 4AA champion, is seeded fourth and will host Viewpoint of Calabasas.
St. Margaret’s is the seventh seed and will visit second-seeded Central Valley Christian of Visalia.
