Outlook: The Mariners are looking to improve off of last year’s fourth place finish. Pacifica returns 10 starters and this year’s team has a foundation with a solid core of returning defensive starters and a good group of returning receivers. Nick Howard steps in at quarterback. As a sophomore, Howard passed for 247 yards with a pair of touchdowns and interceptions in a loss against Tustin. He completed 22 of 33 passes. Michael Gehres is the leading returning rusher (448 yards).
Factoid: Six of Pacifica’s 10 games last season were decided by 12 points or less.
