    •San Clemente beat Mira Costa of Manhattan Beach, 53-51, to win the CIF-SS Division I-A title and advanced to the Southern California Division I Regional semifinals before losing to A.B. Miller of Fontana, 44-43. Capistrano Valley (first round), Aliso Niguel (first round) and Tesoro (wild card) also qualified for the playoffs last season. ...

    •The South Coast League is grouped in Division I-A with the Foothill, Suburban, Sea View, Pacific, Bay, Inland Valley and Ivy Leagues for the playoffs this season. ...

    •San Clemente coach Mary Mulligan on her team: "With four returning starters back from last year's CIF championship team, the Tritons have the experience and leadership necessary to repeat. (Kristen) Riley and (Jacqui) Marshall combine for the best frontcourt in the county.
