Kickoff 2010: Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles
Last season record:
4-4, 2-3 (T-3rd Express League, 8 Man)
Postseason:
2006, lost to Whittier Christian, 62-20, in Northeast Division first round
Coach:
Chris Fore (5th season, 13-25)
Home stadium:
San Clemente HS
Outlook:
The Eagles return leading rusher Phillip Wilhelm (772 yards in 2009) and all three of their starting offensive linemen. Brazilian Ricardo Simoes is a newcomer to watch and could bolster the ground attack. Landon Melzer didn’t play last season but takes over at quarterback. Most of the team’s top players will also play defense. The Eagles hope to carry about 20 players. They have 10 seniors but no juniors. Freshman Sam Sukut is a talented quarterback prospect but is playing wide out and defensive back. With their ground game and senior leadership, the Eagles could contend for a top-two spot in the Express League.
