Talking points: Southeast Division
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Talking points: Southeast Division
CA: Broken their spirit? Just a little bit. The dude has 580 yards and 8 TDs in two playoff games. Allain is blowing it up in the postseason.
AM: Still, I like Schurr because it’s played in every type of game this season. And it has more recent playoff experience.
CA: Schurr’s Raul Pintado is one of the best two-way players in this division. Last week, he rushed for 168 yards and scored on a 70-yard fumble return in a solid win over Westminster.
AM: I wonder if either or both of these teams feel they have nothing to lose, considering the winner will assuredly be an underdog against the winner of La Habra-Cal High.
CA: You mean the underdog against La Habra.
AM: Wow.
CA: Who are we kidding? La Habra is the overwhelming favorite. They have all the motivation after getting the shaft and not getting seeded in the playoffs. They are beating teams 55-whatever.
CA: Schurr lost to San Gabriel, 27-21, a team that La Habra beat, 59-14.
AM: I know. That’s why I said underdog. ... Should we go with something more extreme ... underbear, perhaps?
CA: I’d say Fullerton’s best nonleague win was over Cypress. But Fullerton and Schurr weren’t able to win when they stepped up against top teams this year until the playoffs. They both seem to be on a good run, so this game should be interesting.
AM: And you’re picking?
CA: Fullerton
