Mohr's four TDs more than enough for Santa Ana Valley
SANTA ANA - Joe Mohr threw for 198 yards and four touchdowns as Santa Ana Valley cruised past Century, 35-7, in an Orange League game at Santa Ana Stadium on Friday night.
Abraham Tapia scored the first of five consecutive touchdowns for Santa Ana Valley (7-3, 4-1).
Tapia reeled in a 16-yard strike from Mohr, and the Falcons led, 7-0, after one quarter.
Alex Hernandez tacked on a short-yardage touchdown when he walked around the left side of the formation to double the Falcons’ lead.
A close game turned into a wipeout at the half. With 2:21 left in the second quarter and the Falcons facing a fourth-and-9, Mohr connected with Imran Rahimi on a 34-yard touchdown, effectively ending the comeback hopes of the Centurions (3-7, 1-4).
The Falcons are expected to enter the playoffs as a second seed, while Century will miss the postseason.
Mohr’s four touchdowns came on the heels of a record-setting night against Savanna last week, during which he set the school’s record for career passing yards.
