Segerstrom won't have to share title

SPECIAL TO OCVARSITY.COM

SANTA ANA - Segerstrom knew it had a share of the Golden West League title.

After defeating Santa Ana, 35-14, on Friday night at Santa Ana Stadium, they claimed first place outright for the first time in school history.

Powered by Matt Navarro’s 119 yards on 10 carries and two touchdowns, the Jaguars finished a perfect 5-0 in league.

With the loss, the Saints are playoff bound as the third seed and finish with a 3-2 league record.

Quarterback Brian Murrieta opened the scoring with a 6-yard rushing touchdown.

After a quick Jaguars score on their ensuing drive, Navarro’s two scores on consecutive possessions and Justin Mills’ 8-yard tally sealed the game late in the third.
