SANTA ANA - Almost everyone ruled out Santa Ana on Friday night as it visited Segerstrom — everyone but the Saints, that is.
In an exciting back-and-forth shootout, the Saints held off a last-minute Jaguars rally to preserve a 35-34 Golden West League victory at Jaguar Stadium.
The Jaguars were stunned as they were held scoreless in the fourth quarter.
The Saints (6-3, 3-1) took the lead on a 5-yard run by Frank Peralta with 3:31 left to play.
The Jaguars drove but failed to convert on a fourth down and turned the ball over to the Saints with 10 seconds left.
The Jaguars failed to convert on multiple extra point attempts, which in turn led to their failure.
