Sage Hill vs. Rio Hondo Prep

NEWPORT BEACH- Sage Hill could have  used John Wayne as Hondo to have a chance as Rio Hondo of Arcadia overwhelmed  the Lightning, 53-0.

Special teams breakdowns by Sage Hill (1-2) resulted in a blocked  punt returned for a touchdown in the first quarter. It only got worse from  there as Rio Hondo (2-1) scored four more times in the quarter to take a  commanding lead.

"They jumped on us early," Sage Hill coach Derek McIntyre said.

Sage Hill Randall Mycorn found some confidence in the third  quarter, but his receivers couldn’t hold onto the ball, and the line let  defenders through for a couple of sacks, taking the wind out of any scoring  opportunities.

"Rio Hondo does slip blocks very well," McIntyre said.  "We had a lot of trouble getting passes off. But we played a quality team and  we’re learning."
