TUESDAY'S CIF-SOUTHERN SECTION BASEBALL SEMIFINALS
LONG BEACH WILSON (26-6) VS. ESPERANZA (22-10)

Outlook: The last time Esperanza played in the Division 1 semifinals, in 2007, the Aztecs were eliminated in that round by Long Beach Wilson. Wilson's Bruins finished second, to Lakewood, in the Moore League. In the playoffs, they beat M.L. King of Riverside, 6-0, third-seeded Vista Murrieta, 6-4, in the second round, and Simi Valley, 2-0, at Blair Field in the quarterfinals. Esperanza's Aztecs, Century League champions, beat Capistrano Valley, 10-2, in the first round, Newbury Park, 20-9, in the second round, and Mater Dei, 5-1, in the quarterfinals. Ryan Cooper is batting .427 with 24 RBIs. Brad Anderson also has 24 RBIs. Nick Catalano is hitting .396 with 23 stolen bases. Pitcher Austin Pettibone is 8-4 with a 2.24 ERA. Scott Mason is 5-0 with a 2.45 ERA. Stefan Miladnovich has 20 RBIs. Starting pitcher Bobby Webb has a 1.53 ERA, and Chase Dejong has a 1.41 ERA.

Outlook: Fourth-seeded Santa Barbara, champion of the Channel League, beat Aliso Niguel, 13-3, in the first round, Yucaipa, 7-5, in the second round, and Harvard-Westlake, 7-2, in the quarterfinals. The Dons' Collin Dewell is batting .391 with seven home runs and 33 RBIs, and has a 6-2 pitching record. Danny Zandona is 10-1 with a 1.29 ERA. Mission Viejo finished second in the Sea View League. The Diablos beat Vista del Lago, 6-4, in the first round, Dos Pueblos of Goleta, 5-1, in the second round, and Damien of La Verne, 12-2, in the quarterfinals. Boog Powell is batting .484, Ryan Raslowsky has 23 RBIs and Austin Saenz is batting .495 with 25 RBIs for Mission Viejo.

Outlook: Top-seeded Bonita, last year's Division 3 runner-up, beat Bell Gardens, 10-0, in the first round, Northwood, 5-1, in the second round, and San Gorgonio, 7-0, in the quarterfinals. Robert Mier is batting .341 with five home runs and 31 RBIs, and KC Huth is batting .396 with 32 RBIs, and Matt Gelalich has 23 steals. Brandon Murfett is 5-0 with 0.66 ERA; Justin Garza is 13-0 with a 0.51 ERA. Fourth-seeded Beckman, champion of the Pacific Coast League, beat Downey, 2-0, in the first round, Montebello, 4-1, in the second round, and Paloma Valley of Menifee, 1-0, in the quarterfinals. James Kaprielian pitched shutouts in those first-round and quarterfinal victories. He is 10-1 with a 0.92 ERA. Chad Rieser is 9-1 with a 1.09 ERA for the Patriots. Brandon Horth is batting .449 with 24 RBIs, and is 6-3 in the mound with a 0.93 ERA. Brennan Leitao is batting .398 with 23 RBIs and has a 6-3 pitching record and 1.67 ERA. Ben Wylly is batting .396 with 23 RBIs. Culver City, the No. 2 team from the Ocean League, beat Westminster, 9-0, in the first round, Paramount, 9-5, in the second round and University, 4-1, in the quarterfinals. Tyler Adkison is batting .408 with 20 RBIs. Tyler Mark is 4-3 with a 3.13 ERA.

The Broncos have won 13 games in a row. Top-seeded Oxford, 2009 and 2010 Division 6 champion, beat Mojave, 12-0, in the first round, Bishop Diego of Santa Barbara, 4-0, in the second round, and Brentwood, 11-5, in the quarterfinals. The Patriots have won 22 in a row. Lucas Sardo is batting .484 with 34 RBIs for Oxford, and Daniel Lucak is batting .393 and is 6-1 on the mound.
