Garden GroveSenior Gary Lopezthrew two touchdown passes and caught a third to help Santiago dominate La Quinta, 35-6, in a Garden Grove League football game Thursday at Garden Grove High.
After stopping the Aztecs’ first possession, linebacker Quang Hoblocked an Aztecs punt and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead.
Lopez took over to start the second quarter. His 13-yard touchdown pass to wide out Gabriel Esquivelincreased the lead to 14-0.
The Cavaliers (5-2, 2-0) scored twice in 20 seconds late in the second quarter.
Running back Danny Rujchanarongraced 50 yards for a touchdown to make it 21-0.
La Quinta fell to 0-7, 0-2.
