LA HABRA - Michael Allain rushed for a career-high 221 yards and three touchdowns to lead Fullerton to a 36-7 victory over Sonora in a Freeway League game Friday at La Habra High.
The Indians (4-3, 2-0) forced two turnovers and scored three touchdowns in the third quarter to break open a close game. The Raiders dropped to 4-2, 1-1.
“All of our offensive linemen (Garret Bell, George Flores, Manuel Rojas, Alejandro Prieto, Eric Kindstrandand Randall Hicks) stepped it up and pumped it up tonight,” said Allain, who also had a 65-yard punt return for a TD nullified by a penalty in the third quarter.
Fullerton marched 47 yards in nine plays on its opening possession of the game to take a 6-0 lead. Thomas Sheehan completed a 10-yard TD pass to Joshua DeGala to cap the scoring drive.
Sonora took the lead, 7-6, on a 24-yard TD pass from D.J. Esquivel to Bryan Peterson early in the second quarter.
Later in the quarter, Sheehan picked off an Esquivel pass and returned it 30 yards to set up the Indians’ go-ahead touchdown
