6. St. Margaret’s: The Tartans are out to defend their Trinity League title under Coach Summer Crabtree, who led her team to a 9-6 league mark last season.
“The 2010 season will be a year of growth for St. Margaret’s,” Crabtree said. “We have only one senior this year (Ashley Bean). Our junior class is very strong and one of the most dedicated groups of lacrosse players I have ever coached.
“We also have three great returning sophomores and a new group of freshmen that we will look to for immediate impact on the field.”

Bean had 24 points and 30 ground balls. Junior defenders Kristin Murray and Natalie Hiles also return. Hiles had 26 ground balls last year.
Junior attack Emily Boone, who led the team with 66 goals, 12 assists, 38 ground balls and 49 draw controls, also returns.
Other key players include sophomore midfielders McCaully Patch, Natasha Grey and Alena Riggs, junior goalie Lauren Lindquist and junior defender Anna McGregor.
St. Margaret’s is also looking for big seasons from freshman attack Regan Anderson, freshman midfielder Kelsey Patch, freshman midfielder Alexis Leon, senior defender Kayla Moritzky and freshman goalie Julia Alvarez.
7. Trabuco Hills: Scott Mann’s squad was 14-6 overall and finished 3-5 in a tie for third place in the Sea View League.
Mann is hoping the team will make some big strides this year.
“We return the majority of our goal scorers and hope to challenge the Sea View League and county elite this year,” Mann said. “El Toro is definitely the team to beat this year and Foothill is always strong.”
Leading the Mustangs is senior attack Morgan Chaney, who had 48 goals and 24 assists last year. Also back are senior midfielders Kayla Heaviside, who had 21 goals and five assists and Chelsea Martin, who had 18 goals and five assists.
Other key players include junior midfielder Lizzie Moore, who had 29 goals, 13 assists and 158 controlled draws and senior defender Brittani Nagy, who had seven goals, three assists and 88 ground balls controlled.
Junior midfielder Taylor Nunez, senior attack Veigh Redwine, junior defenders Lauren Thews and Jess Tveit and sophomore midfielder Lexi Witkin also return.
The Mustangs are also counting on freshman attack Hannah Redwine and junior goalie Jesse Vuozzo.
8. Corona del Mar: The Sea Kings battled Beckman for the Pacific Coast League title last year and hope to do so again this year under Coach Aly Vislocky.
Leading the team is senior goalie Zoe Salaam, who was second team All-County last year.
The Sea Kings also return their leading scorer from last year, senior midfielder Hillary Bush, along with senior defender Jessica Smith. Senior defender Maggie McElroy and senior midfielder Madison McHam also return for Corona del Mar.
“Hillary is one of our captains and top scorers, Madison in the midfield has dominated draw controls and Maggie and Jessica Smith are our top defenders,” Vislocky said.
The other top players include senior midfielder Corey Cano, senior attack Tess Crane, sophomore midfielders Ally Brahs and Gabby Smith and junior attack Rhylie Nese.
Junior defender Holland Robinson and junior attack Tiffany Paladin are other key players.
9. Tesoro: The Titans, coached by Meredith Weber, hope to battle for the South Coast League title.
“We have many juniors with a lot of interest in lacrosse and great potential,” Weber said. “It’s a well-rounded group of 20 varsity athletes. It should be an exciting and successful season.”
Leading the way is junior midfielder-attack player Mackenzie Rose, senior goalkeeper Alex Potts, junior midfielder-attack Lauren Huerta and junior attack players Mikayla Mollica and Alissa Neal.
Other key players include junior defender Kaitlin Asay, senior defender Krysta Worthen, junior defender Sophie Wilcox, junior midfielder-attack Sami Nerney and senior midfielder-attack Emily Raya.
Also expected to contribute are senior defender Kelli Dayton and junior defender-midfielder Ashley Leggett.
10. Santa Margarita: The Eagles are hoping to challenge St. Margaret’s for the Trinity League title under Coach Jennifer Van Alstine.
The Eagles are led by senior wing player Erica Henderson, who was honorable mention all-league last year, junior wing player Hope Blain, senior defender Jordan O’Conner, junior attack Kaitlyn Belt and sophomore center Andrea Elwell.
Other key players include senior defensive player Lauren Giudice, junior attack players Hanna Heubscher and Brianne Richards, junior wing players Kelsey Taber and Madelin Williams and sophomore wing Carlie McNiff.
Also expected to contribute for the Eagles are senior attack Caitlin Viar and sophomore defender Makenna Bigelow.
