No. 2 Brea Olinda rolls to victory over No. 5 Foothill

Brea Olinda used a big second quarter to break open a close game, and the second-ranked Ladycats went on to a 68-49 victory over No. 5 Foothill in a Century League game on Friday night at Brea Olinda High.

Brea Olinda (15-4, 6-0) took over sole possession of first place in the Century League with the victory over the Knights (16-4, 5-1).

Cal Poly SLO-bound Taylor Spears led the Ladycats with 17 points, Anna Kim had 16 points and Pepperdine-bound Keitra Wallace added 12 points.

Brea Olinda had a 14-13 advantage after one quarter, but the Ladycats outscored the Knights, 23-7, in the second quarter to take a 37-20 lead at the half and seize control of the game.

UC Davis-bound Molly Greubel scored a game-high 19 points for Foothill.

In another Century League game:

No. 7 Canyon 52, Villa Park 39: The Comanches (14-6, 4-2) outrebounded the visiting Spartans (13-6, 3-3) by 20 and took over sole posession of third place with the victory.

In the Freeway League:

No. 4 Troy 68, Sunny Hills 23: Alecia Dimas and Gabriella Hanson scored 18 and 17 points, respectively, as the Warriors (11-5, 5-0) dispatched the visiting Lancers (14-9, 3-2).

Sonora 45, La Habra 18: Jasmine Hills' 26 points paced the Raiders (12-9, 3-2) in a victory over the visiting Highlanders (15-5, 3-2). Sonora is ranked No. 9 in Division 3AAA and La Habra is No. 8 in Division 3AAA.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Woodbridge 62, Beckman 22: Sarah Lipton knocked down three 3-pointers and finished with 25 points as the Warriors (13-6, 5-0) defeated the visiting Patriots (8-12, 0-4) to go undefeated through the first round of league play.

Northwood 43, Corona del Mar 30: Nicole Ishihara scored 17 points to lift the visiting Timberwolves (9-11, 1-3) over the Sea Kings (9-11, 1-5), who got 18 points from Karleh Wilson.

In the Academy League:

St. Margaret's 45, Brethren Christian 20: Yamili Burgos scored 15 points, Jenny Tedori had 10 points and 10 rebounds, Emily Morton had five points and 11 rebounds and Julianna Coleman had seven points and nine rebounds as the Tartans (13-4, 4-1) beat the visiting Warriors (15-6, 3-2) to take sole possession of second place.

In the Garden Grove League:

Los Amigos 68, La Quinta 18: Zong Lee scored 20 points and Vanessa Garcia had 18 points as the host Lobos (10-7, 4-0) beat the Aztecs (2-13, 1-3) to remain undefeated in league.

Garden Grove 49, Bolsa Grande 34: Cheyenne Maneafagia and Monique Yslas scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, to  host Argonauts (7-9, 1-3) over the Matadors (2-12, 0-4).

In the San Joaquin League:

Fairmont Prep 59, Capistrano Valley Christian 34: Freshman Blaysen Varnadoe made four 3-pointers and finished with 30 points to lead the host Huskies (9-5, 3-0) past the Eagles (0-12, 0-4).
