Matt Barkley's collection of postseason awards grew again Thursday night.

The Mater Dei junior quarterback won the Orange County Prep Football Player of the Year award.

Local media voted on the award, which was announced at the player recognition dinner for the Brea Lions Orange County North-South Prep All-Star Football Game on July 11.

Barkley, who is not playing in the all-star game, was The Register's offensive player of the year after passing for an Orange County-record 3,560 yards. The USC-commit also tossed 35 touchdowns in 11 games.

Barkley (6-3, 220) later became the first junior to be selected Gatorade's National Player of the Year. He has captured numerous other awards, including the inaugural Joe Montana Award for the top high school quarterback and the Maxwell Award's top junior in the nation.
