Swim notes: O.C. girls rewriting all-time Top 25
Orange County’s girls swimmers got an early start during league finals on their alterations to the county Top 25 list.
The girls could be even faster this week at the CIF-Southern Section finals in Riverside but here’s a quick review of their top times from last week.
200-yard medley relay: University captured the Pacific Coast League crown in 1 minute, 43.99 seconds, fourth fastest in county history.
200 individual medley: Freshman Ella Eastin of Crean Lutheran won the Academy League crown in 2:01.65, which places her eighth in county history. Lizzie Devitt of Santa Margarita grabbed the No. 10 spot with a 2:02.02 in the Trinity League.
50 free: Lindsey Engel of Crean Lutheran jumped former Edison standout Cindy Tran for sixth in county history with a 23.30 at the Academy finals. Los Alamitos’ Lynea Baudino delivered arguably the breakout performance of the week with a 23.40, which places her eighth all-time.
100 fly: Jserra freshman Katie McLaughlin slipped past former Edison standout Yasi Jahanshahi by one one-hundredth of a second for the No. 4 spot in county history with a 54.45. Corona del Mar’s Brynne Wong blasted a 55.20 at the Pacific Coast League for ninth.
200 free relay: JSerra blazed to a 1:35.67 – good for fifth all-time. …
