OCVarsity previews football teams for the 2008-09 season.

Orange Lutheran

Last season: 10-2, 3-1 (first-place tie)

Postseason: 2007, lost to Long Beach Poly, 2-0, in Pac-5 semifinals.

Coach: Jim Kunau (16th year, 151-35-3)

Outlook: The Lancers have to replace some fine players, including tight end Blake Ayles (USC), running back/linebacker Ricky Pemasa (Fresno State) and quarterback Blake Hyepock (Colorado State). They do have two experienced running backs returning, including Exavier Edwards who showed flashes of promise last year. There is plenty of speed, especially on defense, and the addition of Gabe Lemon, a cornerback/receiver who was All-County last year at Trabuco Hills, will help.

Home stadium: Orange Coast College, Santa Ana Stadium, Brea Olinda High

Factoid: Senior linebacker Jeremiah Pemasa had 70 tackles last year.
