Roundup: Laguna beats friendly rival in opener

Lexie Del Toro had four goals and two assists to lead Laguna Beach's No. 4 girls water polo team past visiting Dana Hills and former Breakers coach Chad Beeler, 11-5, in the season-opener for each team Wednesday.

Goalie Jenna Knott added nine saves for Laguna Beach.

In other nonleague matches:

No. 7 Santa Margarita 19, Villa Park 7: Haley Wan scored seven goals and Morgan Martinez added six to lead the host Eagles in their season opener. Wan also added four steals while Martinez had three assists.

No. 10 Rosary 10, Warren of Downey 3: Anastacia Gonzalez scored four goals and Jessica Hermosillo made 11 saves to lead the visiting Royals (1-0).

Long Beach Wilson 8, No. 9 Edison 5: Josette Santos made 12 saves for the Chargers (0-1) at Belmont Plaza.

Costa Mesa 7, Aliso Niguel 5: Kaitlyn Hill made 10 saves, including one against a penalty shot, and Kellie Thorsness scored three goals to lead the visiting Mustangs. Last season, Aliso Niguel defeat Costa Mesa, 9-5, in an early-season nonleague game.
