St. Margaret's runs wild as streak reaches 37

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO - The St. Margaret's offensive juggernaut was in full force Friday night as Coach Harry Welch's squad defeated winless Capistrano Valley Christian, 72-0, at St. Margaret's.

St. Margaret's extended its winning streak to 37 games, second longest in county history.

The Tartans (8-0) never looked back as they scored five first-quarter touchdowns in seven plays. Quarterback David Mothander threw for three touchdowns and 173 yards in the quarter.

He finished the night with four touchdowns and 216 yards passing, all of which came in the first half.

Teammate John Murayama had seven runs of 15 yards or more. He rushed for 191 yards and totaled six touchdowns.

Capo Valley Christian dropped to 0-8.
