It had been a goal of Coach Meredith Meyran's to help Los Alamitos High capture a Southern California title.

This year, Meyran and the Griffins did it and, for her part, she is the county girls lacrosse coach of the year.

Meyran has a career record of 40-7-1. Meyran started the program at Los Alamitos in 2007 with a group of 40 girls who had never played lacrosse before.

The team went undefeated in 2009 with a perfect 19-0 record while defeating Cate of Carpinteria, 17-11, in the Southern California championship game.

Meyran played four years of Division I lacrosse at Towson University in Baltimore, where she graduated in 2001.
