El Toro sweeps Mission Viejo

El Toro's girls swim team continued to build a case for a top-10 ranking in Orange County by defeating host and No. 10 Mission Viejo, 91-79, in the South Coast League on Tuesday.

The Chargers finished atop the South Coast League dual-meet standings with a 3-1 record.

El Toro closed the meet strong. The Chargers' Summer Fox (1 minute, 12.16 seconds) and Claire Aguilar (1:12.55) placed first-second in the 100-yard breaststroke.

El Toro also opened the meet by finishing first-third in the medley relay. The Chargers also touched first-third in the 200 free relay.

In the boys meet, El Toro defeated Mission Viejo, 90-80. The Diablos' Steven Ewoldt won the 50 free in a swift 21.47. The Chargers' Tanner Cridland captured the 200 individual medley (2:01.67) and 100 back (55.21).

In another South Coast meet:

No. 2 Capistrano Valley boys 119, San Clemente 51: Logan Redondo won the 200 free in 1:42.95 and the 500 free in 4:38.53 to pace the visiting Cougars (4-2, 4-0).

In the Empire League:

Kennedy boys 108, Valencia 62: Freshman Ryan Kao clocked a 53.20 in the butterfly to help pace the host Fighting Irish (11-0, 6-0).
