Another Academy League sweep for St. Margaret's
NEWPORT BEACH - St. Margaret’s claimed the outright Academy League title Friday with a 44-0 victory over host Sage Hill.
St. Margaret’s (9-1, 3-0) controlled the game from start to finish, scoring six times, all on the ground.
The Tartans' rushing attack was led by junior quarterback Joshua Davis, who ran for 63 yards and four touchdowns.
Sophomore runningback Oscar Gomez was also a key contributer, scoring twice and rushing for 179 yards.
Sage Hill (0-10, 0-3) crossed the 50-yard-line only once, but did have one highlight.
St. Margaret’s had the ball on Sage Hill’s 5-yard-line and Sage Hill senior Harrison Ray intercepted a Davis pass to end the first half.
This victory continued St. Margaret’s Academy League dominance as the Tartans have gone undefeated in league for the past eight seasons.
St. Margaret’s will play next in the East Valley Division playoffs.
