Watson helps power Corona del Mar into semifinals

Junior center Chase Watson scored four goals to help Corona del Mar's No. 4 boys water polo team defeat Acalanes, 8-4, in the quarterfinals of the S & Sport Water Polo Cup in Irvine on Friday.
Watson and Corona del Mar play defending champion Miramonte of Orinda in the semifinals Saturday at 3:45 p.m. at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center.
Goalie Isle Anderson added nines for the Sea Kings (11-2).
In another quarterfinal:
Newport Harbor 13, Long Beach Wilson 3: Blake Kelly, Zach Lucas and Farrel South each scored four to pace the top-ranked Sailors. Goalie Chris Whitelegge added 13 saves.
The Sailors meet Coronado in the 2:40 semifinal at Woollett.
The championship is set for 8:05 p.m.
