ANAHEIM - Magnolia continued its quest for its first postseason appearance in more than 20 years Friday night, and as usual,
Robert Cruz led the way.
The senior running back rushed for 324 yards and six touchdowns as Magnolia celebrated homecoming with a 61-8 victory over Century (2-7, 0-4) at Western High.
The victory improves the Sentinels to 3-1 in Orange League play and in prime position to gain their first playoff berth since the mid-eighties.
“We’re getting better every week,” Magnolia coach Dave Perkins said. “We took care of business (tonight).”
Magnolia (5-4,) jumped out to a 26-0 first quarter lead behind
Elijah Laulu touchdown passes of 31 and 81 yards, and Cruz scoring runs of 62 and 8 yards.
