Lohman's 362 yards spark SVC victory
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO - Senior running back Forrest Lohman rushed for 362 yards and five touchdowns as Saddleback Valley Christian secured the San Joaquin League title Friday night, beating Fairmont Prep, 54-37, at St. Margaret’s High.
In the first quarter, Lohman rushed for a 49-yard touchdown to put Saddleback Valley Christian (6-4, 5-0) up 14-6. He scored twice more in the second quarter with 45- and 55-yard runs.
Lohman later caught a pass from Saddleback Valley Christian quarterback Brandon Camarillo-Towels and fumbled at the 1-yard line, but teammate Michael Eastin recovered it in the end zone.
In the fourth quarter, Fairmont was able to start a comeback with a 22-yard touchdown run by Varnadoe and a 20-yard touchdown catch by receiver Lionell Wiggins.
But Saddleback Valley Christian answered as Lohnman scored twice more.
Bobby Varnadoe passed for 181 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 109 yards, but his offensive production wasn’t enough for Fairmont Prep (4-6, 2-3).
Camarillo-Towels threw for 147 yards with one touchdown pass and rushed for 37 yards.
