Cruz runs for 343 yards - again - in Magnolia romp
Sentinels' 58-14 win paced by running back.
For the second consecutive game, the 5-foot-9, 176-pound running back ran for exactly that many yards, this time victimizing Estancia in the Sentinels' 58-14 victory at Estancia on Friday.
The twin performances have several Pac-10 schools buzzing, according to Coach Dave Perkins, who said he has received calls from Oregon, Oregon State and Arizona.
Cruz, for his part, gave credit to what is becoming a stout Magnolia offensive line.
“I guess the line likes (that number),” Cruz said. “The line came through, they opened holes … everyone stepped up and did their part.”
Cruz steamrolled the Eagles for five rushing touchdowns, including a 59-yard romp in the second quarter. The line also made room for quarterback Elijah Laulu, who had a 13-yard scoring run in the third quarter.
“They're going to come off the ball and knock people down,” Perkins said. “They've worked very hard in the weight room since last November, and it's starting to show.”
