Tesoro stays unbeaten in South Coast

Special to OCVarsity.com

SANTA MARGARITA It almost looked  as if Dana Hills was primed for its second scoreless tie of the season, but with a chance to play for the South Coast League title on the line, Tesoro wasn’t about to let that happen.

The Titans (6-3, 4-0) broke a scoreless tie with a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter, and  their defense held strong in a 35-0 shutout against the Dolphins (1-7-1, 1-2-1) in a league game Friday at Tesoro High.

Harold Williams added three rushing touchdowns on runs of 1, 38 and 3 yards in the second half as Tesoro remained unbeaten in league play and will face Mission Viejo for the league title next week.

“We started a little sluggish, but we made some plays and now we’re looking forward to the big game,” Tesoro coach Brian Barnes said.

Robbie Picazo found Evan Finkenberg for a 10-yard TD pass for the first score.
