Boys basketball playoffs: Division 1AA county breakdown
Foothill: The Knights are 21-5, yet play a first-round away game. They are at Great Oak of Temecula, Southwestern League champion, in the first round. If the Footill wins, a second-round game against Etiwanda is likely.
Fountain Valley: The Sunset League champion Barons play a home game against Inglewood in the first round Friday. Fountain Valley's Josh Armstong likely to be league player of the year.
Los Alamitos:The Griffins finished second in the Sunset League. They play at Silverado, Desert Sky champion, Friday. Los Al gets good guard play from Wes Mitter and Khalid Washington.
Mater Dei: The Monarchs are the division's No. 1-seeded team. Mater Dei, Trinity League champion, won section and state championships last year. They Monarchs play host to Roosevelt in the first round Friday.
Mission Viejo: The Diablos won the South Coast League championship, and are seeded No. 4 in the division. Etiwanda's loss to Rancho Cucamonga last week helped moved Mission Viejo into the group of top four seeds. Evan Zeller has been among county leading scorers all season.
Orange Lutheran: The Lancers, who finished fourth in the Trinity League, qualified as an at-large team, one of two at-large entries in the division. Top player Payton Banks has battled injuries of late, but has returned to the lineup. They play at Eisenhower of Rialto, Citrus Belt League champion.
Trabuco Hills – The Mustangs finished third in the Sea View League, only two games behind league champion San Clemente. Crag Magyar is averaging 19 points a game. Trabuco plays at Warren of Downey, San Gabriel Valley League champion. Friday
