Kickoff 2010: Loara Saxons

OCVARSITY.COM

Last season record:

5-5 (League Record N/A)

Postseason:

2001, lost to Cerritos 42-7 in the first round of the Division VI playoffs.

Coach:

Dean Lappin (5th year, 13-27)

Home stadium:

Glover Stadium, Anaheim

Outlook:

The Golden West League welcomes a new member in 2010, as the Saxons replace the Saddleback Roadrunners and should be in the mix to earn a playoff berth. The return of first team All-Empire League running back Howard Gauta (1,041 rushing yards) and second team All-Empire League quarterback Michael Schneider (1,221 yards, 14 touchdowns) should provide a big boost. The Saxons’ playoff chances will hinge on their defense, which must replace a number of starters and gave up an average of 37 points a game during league play in 2009.

Starters:

See Loara's starting players for the 2010 season.

Factoid:

The last time the Saxons had three straight non-losing seasons was from 1989-91.

School record:

263-223-13
