There were plenty of marquee matchups on the biggest Thursday night of the season.

The playoff picture cleared up in many leagues, but many scenarios remain in place heading into Friday night's games after Thursday's action.

The "Sunset Doomsday Scenario" is the most intriguing one and remains a possibility after Newport Harbor knocked off Los Alamitos, 24-23, on a last-second field goal.

If Esperanza upsets Edison on Friday night, there could be a five-way tie for first place in the Sunset League between Los Al, Newport Harbor, Fountain Valley, Edison and Esperanza.

The Trinity League remains up for grabs after Orange Lutheran beat Mater Dei, 24-21, on a field goal with two seconds remaining.

Orange Lutheran and Mater Dei are in the playoffs and have at least a share of the league title, but Servite can create a three-way tie for first place with a victory over St. John Bosco on Friday.

The Century League ended in a three-way tie for first place after El Dorado defeated Tustin, 28-23, and Canyon beat Villa Park, 33-14.

El Dorado, Tustin and Canyon finished first, second and third, respectively, after the coin flips.

Robert Cruz rushed for 270 yards and four touchdowns to help Magnolia beat Anaheim, 28-17, to get the Sentinels second place in the Orange League and into the playoffs for the first time in 23 years.
 
Western took the Orange League title outright with a 42-21 victory over Santa Ana Valley, which clinched third place because of Anaheim's loss.
 
Calvary Chapel knocked off Estancia, 12-10, to clinch third place in the Orange Coast League and earn its first trip to the playoffs since 2001.
 
La Habra, Fullerton and Sunny Hills finished first, second and third, respectively, in the Freeway League with victories.
