Westminster took sole possession of first place in the Golden West League with a 33-28 triumph over Segerstrom on Thursday night at Ocean View High.

Aaron Garbutt rushed for over 200 yards and four touchdowns, he passed for a touchdown and he had a huge game on defense to lead the charge for the Lions.

Segerstrom, which is in its third season of varsity football, has nothing to be ashamed of after a valiant effort in defeat.

Tesoro, the fifth team this season to take over the No. 1 spot in the county rankings, solidified its top-ranked status with a 42-0 South Coast League victory over Capo Valley.

Edison, which was ranked No. 1 in the county last week, bounced back from its loss to Los Alamitos with a 55-14 Sunset League victory over Marina.

Tustin took over sole possession of first place in the Century League with a 49-21 trouncing of Villa Park.

Laguna Hills still hasn't found a passing attack, but the Hawks are off to an 8-0 start for the first time since 1996 after a 24-0 Pacific Coast League victory over Beckman.

St. Margaret's put  the hurt on Brethren Christian with a 70-6 victory over Brethren Christian.
