MICHAEL GOULDING, THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER
FREEWAY FOES: Ronnie Hillman (4) and La Habra could be in for a fight when they take on Fullerton in the Freeway League.

A football fan could concentrate solely on Trinity League teams to find a great matchup every week of this high school season.

But there is so much more going on.

Every game is a big game. On any night at any stadium, some player is going to make a play he is going to remember the rest of his life. It could be a spectacular diving catch in the end zone in the final seconds, or a fumble recovery that clinches victory in the homecoming game.

Or it could be that hard-working, determined third-string kid who finally gets on the field on the kick-return team, and makes the key block that springs the returner for a touchdown.

When it's the last game of the season and two 0-9 teams meet, that game is their Super Bowl. Those kids will remember that game forever.

It's time to make some more memories.

Here is a week-by-week guide to some intriguing matchups.

Many of the obvious big games are included. For example, Week 10, the final week of the regular season, is loaded with interesting games, but we have to go with Orange Lutheran-Mater Dei. But look a bit deeper, and there are all kinds of games that will have impact on rankings, standings, league championships and playoff positions.
