•Last year's final standings: 1. El Toro (24-4 overall, 9-1 league); 2. Trabuco Hills (18-10, 6-4); (tie) Woodbridge (17-11, 6-4); (tie) Northwood (16-11, 6-4); 5. Huntington Beach (14-13, 3-7); 6. Foothill (8-19, 0-10).
•In the CIF-Southern Section Division I-A playoffs, Woodbridge advanced to the quarterfinals, El Toro advanced to the second round, and Trabuco Hills, Northwood and Huntington Beach were eliminated in the first round.
•El Toro has good inside and outside players, which will make the Chargers very versatile. They had an undefeated junior varsity team last season.
•Huntington Beach's Nick Becker was first-team all-league last season when he averaged 20 points and four assists. Trevor Carroll scored 11 a game, and Zach Kimber scored 10 a game.
•Trabuco Hills has experienced players and height, too, making the Mustangs a top playoff contender.
•Foothill struggled last year with a mostly underclassmen lineup. The Knights are quite the opposite this year - a team with returning starters and senior leadership.
•Woodbridge will miss Austin Daye, All-County first team last year and one of the county's top offensive players. The Warriors still have some experienced returnees, including Kyle Omara, who averaged six points and four rebounds last season.
•Northwood lost two of last year's top players - Chris O'Brien graduated, and Jessee Hazely transferred to Santa Margarita.
