LAGUNA BEACH - Laguna Beach hosted Estancia and wanted to stay undefeated in league, but for a while it looked like neither team wanted to win.

Once Laguna Beach got its offense in gear, the Breakers were able to roll to a 24-10 victory over visiting Estancia.

After a scoreless first quarter, a fumble by Estancia quarterback Alec Kirshner was recovered by Laguna Beach on Estancia’s 18-yard line.

After a 13-yard run by John Snedegar, Zach Smith ran it in from 5 yards for the first Breakers touchdown.

After an interception by Rouzebeh Kazemian 45 seconds later, Snedegar added a 16-yard field goal to put Laguna Beach (4-5, 3-0) ahead, 10-0, at halftime.

In the third quarter, Estancia got going as Alex Abalosscampered 52 yards for a touchdown.
Four minutes later Estancia (3-6, 1-2) tied the score on a field goal by Eli Diego.

Then both teams turned on their passing games in the fourth quarter, but Laguna Beach took control in the fourth quarter.

“At halftime I asked the guys what they wanted,” Laguna Beach coach Jonathan Todd said. “Our defense stepped up and stopped their passing game.”

Laguna Beach faces off next against Costa Mesa.
