Hawks improve to 3-0.
LAGUNA HILLSAble to run the ball effectively and force turnovers, Laguna Hills coasted to a 33-7 victory against El Toro on Friday night at Laguna Hills High.

Bobbled snaps and botched handoffs by the Chargers (0-4), combined with a swarming Hawks (3-0) defense, repeatedly provided strong field position to the victors. Laguna Hills managed to capitalize offensively behind a dominating front line and racked up 282 yards on the ground. The Chargers attempted only nine passes all night.

“We’re trying to be balanced [offensively], but right now we’re just a better team when we’re running the ball,” Laguna Hills coach Bruce Ingalls said. “For right now, we’ll do what’s necessary to win football games.”

Hawks senior running back Derek Browning was regularly weaving his way into the secondary, amassing 183 yards on 17 carries with a single touchdown.

El Toro junior Cody Fields found senior Elliot Morgan open for a 37-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
