Kennedy wins another thriller
Comments 0 | Recommend 0ANAHEIM - Andy Peterson passed for five touchdowns as Kennedy survived some last-minute drama for the second week in a row to defeat Downey, 32-27, in a nonleague game at Western High on Friday night.
“Andy is the heart and soul of this team,” said Kennedy coach Brit Johnson of his senior quarterback, who threw touchdown passes of 18, 15, 18, 25 and 4 yards. “He makes things happen.”
Trailing 21-19, Jordan Espino scored on a 25-yard touchdown reception on the first play of the fourth quarter as Kennedy (3-2) regained the lead in a game it once led, 12-0 and 19-7.
Jake Plambeck’s 4-yard touchdown on the next Irish possession seemingly put the game out of reach, but Justin Iams scooped up a fumble and returned it 80 yards for a touchdown for Downey (1-3).
