San Juan Hills wins in its new stadium

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO- In the first game played at its new Badlands Stadium, San Juan Hills defeated Canyon, 21-17, on Friday in a nonleague game that was decided in the final seconds on an 18-yard pass from Jacob Gibson to Kyle Mucerino.

The Stallions were led by junior quarterback Gibson, who threw for 210 yards on 15 completions.

San Juan Hills trailed Canyon early, allowing a first-quarter touchdown by Canyon senior fullback Troy Kurtz, who rushed for 173 yards on 21 carries.

The Stallions struck back in the second quarter by scoring two touchdowns to take the lead, 14-10.

In the third quarter, Canyon retook the lead on a rushing touchdown, but the Stallions marched up the field with under five minutes to go to score the deciding touchdown.
