This is Johnson’s third appearance as county player of the week. What a week it was. He scored 25 points with 21 rebounds in Mater Dei’s 79-67 victory over St. John Bosco of Bellflower, the No. 5 team in the state rankings. The 6-foot-7 junior followed with 29 points, eight rebounds and five steals in the Monarchs’ 75-59 victory over Orange Lutheran. He scored 17 points in the second half against Lutheran. Johnson, All-County first team last season, is averaging 20 points and eight rebounds a game.
