Henigan hits milestone
Calvary Chapel vs. Irvine.
Irvine Coach Terry Henigan notched his 200th career victory Thursday night as the Vaqueros rolled past Calvary Chapel, 27-7, in a nonleague game at Orange Coast College.
But Henigan, who has coached at Irvine since 1981, tried to deflect the attention as his team presented him the game ball.
"When I'm done with my career, I think I'll really appreciate it, but right now, we got to stay on task and the task is to get ready for Northwood. We're 4-0 and it's been a long time since Irvine has been 4-0."
The Vaqueros led, 17-0, after one quarter.
Quarterback D.J. Crumlich led Irvine, completing 9 of 17 passes for 133 yards and returned a punt 72 yards for a TD. Calvary Chapel (0-4) was led by Tikey Mahlow, who completed passed for 115 yards.
