Fountain Valley star Hinnant injured in car accident

OCVARSITY.COM

Fountain Valley senior tackle and co-captain J.D. Hinnant was injured Friday afternoon in an automobile accident while heading to a team function, Barons coach John Shipp said before the team's game against Marina at Westminster High.

Shipp said the Barons contemplated calling off the game because of Hinnant's accident, before deciding to play.

Hinnant (6-4, 270), a highly sought recruit, has been offered by Cal, Duke, Nebraska, Oregon, Arizona State, Colorado, Harvard, Nevada, Oregon State, San Diego State, Washington and Washington State.

He has made visits to Nebraska and Oregon, according to scout.com, which rates him a three-star recruit. He was a second-team All-Sunset League selection as a junior.
