Everything still perfect for Laguna Hills
LAGUNA HILLS - Perfection is hard to come by, unless you’re Laguna Hills coach Bruce Ingalls.
Ingalls and the Hawks finished their Pacific Coast League schedule undefeated for the fourth consecutive season Friday night with a 48-7 victory over visiting San Juan Hills.
"I could have never imagined four years ago that we were going to run through this league and win every game," said Engalls, whose team extended its Pacific Coast League winning streak to 16 games.
"You don’t even think about something like that."
Running back Jonathon Miranda scored on the second play from scrimmage, bursting through for a 46-yard touchdown run, and Laguna Hills (8-2, 5-0) never looked back.
Miranda finished with 123 yards rushing on 11 carries and also caught a 14-yard touchdown pass coming out of the backfield on a wheel route in the second quarter.
"Our offensive line is a mature bunch of guys, they’ve been doing the work," Ingalls said. "Johnny just took advantage of their hard work."
Alex Salera added 62 yards and rushed for touchdowns of 2, 9 and 13 yards.
Laguna Hills finished with 271 yards on the ground.
After scoring an average of 31.5 in its other four league games, San Juan Hills (4-6, 2-3) got its lone touchdown on an 83 yard reverse by wide receiver Michael Perryman in the fourth quarter.
Perryman finished with a game-high 162 yards rushing on 9 carries.
