GLENDORA— El Dorado emphatically declared itself ready for Century League action.
Kane Wilson threw for 104 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two touchdowns as the Golden Hawks dominated Glendora, 35-14 in a nonleague game Thursday night at Citrus College.
“We came out quick tonight and set the tone,” said Wilson, who completed 6 of 11 passes. “We had a good week of practice and this will boost our confidence a lot.”
The Golden Hawks (4-1) controlled the game from the start. After stuffing the Tartans' first possession, the Golden Hawks marched 56 yards in six plays, taking a 7-0 lead when Wilson hit tight end Trace Wilson on a beautiful 9-yard play-action pass.
The Golden Hawks defense forced the Tartans (3-2) to punt on their ensuing possession, and Wilson wasted little time leading the offense back to the end zone.
A 42-yard pass to tight end Nolan Sheldon highlighted a seven-play, 71-yard drive that ended with a 9-yard touchdown run by Wilson to give the Golden Hawks a 14-0 lead.
The Golden Hawks special teams keyed two short touchdown drives in the second period.
After forcing another Tartans punt, punter B.J. Gonzalez was tackled for a 13-yard loss. The Golden Hawks then methodically marched 30 yards in six plays, culminating in Wilson’s second 9-yard touchdown run, which increased the Golden Hawks’ lead to 21-0 midway through the second quarter.
