WHITTIER - Whittier Christian couldn’t overcome its mistakes in the first half and couldn’t capitalize on numerous opportunities in the second half as the host Heralds dropped a nonleague game to Paraclete, 38-12, on Friday night.
Two first-half fumbles by the Heralds (3-4) turned into touchdowns for running back Brandon Buteyn, who finished with three touchdowns and 282 yards rushing for the Spirits (4-3).
The Heralds also had a blocked punt that Brandon Owen returned 28 yards for another Spirits score.
