Kennedy beats La Habra in Loara final
In the Loara Tournament on Saturday:
Kennedy 51, La Habra 44: Terrance Blum was named tournament MVP after leading the Fighting Irish (6-2) past the Highlanders (4-6) in the championship game at Katella High.
"We put so much hard work into this tournament," Blum said. "I'm proud that we got the win.
"(I) got the tournament MVP and everything, but it's really a team thing. We came out here focused and ready, and we got the job done."
Blum led all scorers with 18 points, and his effectiveness in the post forced La Habra to commit multiple defenders to denying him the ball.
"He's our leader. He's one of our captains and we rely on him," Kennedy coach Jose Alvarez said. "He gives us so many different looks that nobody else on the team can give us."
Justin Jaimez and David Desatoff led the way for La Habra with 15 and 13 points, respectively.
Earlier Saturday night, Loara edged Godinez, 32-30, to take third place.
