Girls scholar-athlete of the week: Cyrena Gonzalez, La Habra

Gonzalez, a three-year varsity player for the Highlanders, is also one of the school’s top academic achievers and community ambassadors. She is currently taking Honors Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus, Honors Physics, Honors Heritage American Government, Journalism, Humanities 4, Foundations of Photography, and Leadership Tech. She is the senior class vice president and is a member of the National Honors Society. Gonzalez, a member of the Heritage Humanities Magnet Program, has helped lead and organize food and blood drives at the school. She has been a member of the city of La Habra’s Youth Committee for three years and has served over 150 hours of community service. Gonzalez has also been a member of the Girls Scouts of Orange County for 12 years, has earned a Silver award, and is working toward her Gold award. Her top college choices are UCLA and UC Davis, where she plans to major in Environmental Science.
